First job with this project is to strip off all the loose items, railings, fittings and the plexi windows as they were all badly fitted and most were loose anyway. Second task is to rid the main parts of the ugly bright orange paint. I did some research for something suitable and cheap to do this with and narrowed the choice down to 2. “fairy power spray”, a cheap superstore spray on oven cleaner and the other was “safer stripper” made by langlow, used for marine applications where a lot of plastics are used. the fairy power spray was easy to use, especially on smaller items and made the paint bubble within a few minutes, the safer stripper, being almost a gel consistency took a bit longer to work and to be honest, you need to leave for at least 2 hours to see any effect and then it only works on 1 layer of paint at a time. Another down side to this safer stripper is it does discolour the plastic a hue of !”green”, so be aware of this, but it does cover over easily when repainted, even with a coat of white paint, it does not show through.
